5 Favorite Sun Basket Meals
Sun Basket puts flavor first, and it was noticeable in their meals. At face value, the meals look just like most meal kit delivery services but the subtle differences in taste were noticeable.
Now, I am not usually one to fixate on tiny details like this but, when it comes to flavor in the meals I tried, they delivered big time. Check out some of my favorite Sun Basket meals from their classic and family menus.

What’s Unique About Sun Basket
The first thing I noticed when I opened the Sun Basket delivery was that there were no recipe cards. Instead, Sun Basket provides you with a book which has all of the recipes for that week – not just the ones that you ordered, so if you are proactive, you can save these and use them to prepare tasty, healthy meals.
I must admit though, while this was really cool initially (I love free stuff) it was a tad annoying when you are used to having just the recipe card to work off.
Now, the Sun Basket meal kit delivery service has quite a balanced menu and pricing structure considering, that their ‘specialty’ is providing organic produce and clean ingredients.
When my partner called me up at work and dropped the news that she had ordered us two weeks of meals from Sun Basket I was excited – I had never heard of Sun Basket before so I was looking forward to trying a new stress-free meal kit.
But, then she mentioned, “it is organic food!” – My stomach sank. Now, this wasn’t a bad thing necessarily. I was worried at first because in most circumstances, the word organic makes everything cost a whole lot more and I was expecting that we would have to give the bank a call and refinance our mortgage to pay for it!
Kidding, obviously. Honestly, I was a little concerned to see the bill, but to my surprise, the Sun Basket meals were hardly anymore costly than the other services that we had tried.
This is a big positive in my books. Making organic produce and clean ingredients affordable is not the most straightforward task – especially when you couple it with the quality of meals and flavor being as great as they are.
So, what makes Sun Basket so unique is their ability to create flavorful recipes (which were developed by their award-winning chef, Justine Kelly) that are also part of dietitian-approved diets like Paleo, Mediterranean, and Vegetarian – as well as featuring organic ingredients.
With the very reasonable pricing for Sun Basket meals, there really isn’t much against moving forward for yourself or your family with all eyes on healthier lifestyles.
Environmentally friendly
I was amazed to find out about the true detail and design that went into the packaging for the Sun Basket boxes. Like, I was that impressed I didn’t want to recycle them on the curb – I wanted to go ahead and reuse them!
You don’t need to be an outside-the-box-thinker too because Sun Basket shares tips on how to reuse! These are some of my favorite ideas:
- Pet Beds – stuff any cover material with the denim insulation to make a comfortable pet bed
- Soft Coolers – use the denim insulation to create a soft cooler, you could put your work lunches inside
- Pet Houses – just like insulation in a house, the denim insulation can be used to insulate smaller dwellings like dog houses or chicken pens!
- Packaging – are you sending presents for a birthday soon? Use the denim insulation as a protective wrap when shipping items, or use as protection on your fragile pieces during a move

How Much Does SunBasket Cost
The Sun Basket meal kit delivery service is all about flexibility and simplicity. They have just the two menus – classic and family, while their family menu offers the best value and family-friendly recipes, the more popular classic menu is not too far off in terms of costs and has a broader range of recipes to pick from each week.
Check out the pricing breakdown for the two menus in the table below.
Costs | ||||||
Menu | 2 Recipes per week | 3 Recipes per week | 4 Recipes per week
2 People | 4 People | 2 People | 4 People | 2 People | 4 People
Classic Menu | $51.96 ($12.99 per serving) | $103.92 ($12.99 per serving) | $71.94 ($11.99 per serving) | $143.88 ($11.99 per serving) | $87.92 ($10.99 per serving) | $175.84 ($10.99 per serving) |
Family Menu | N/A | $87.92 ($10.99 per serving) | N/A | $131.88 ($10.99 per serving) | N/A | $175.84 ($10.99 per serving) |
Sun Basket charges a flat rate of $6.99 for shipping costs which are below the average prices for meal kit delivery services. The quality of the environmentally-friendly packaging is also worth mentioning, but I would have preferred to see them waive the shipping costs on larger deliveries.
What Comes in the Sun Basket Box
Some serious work has been put into the packaging of the Sun Basket meal kit delivery box, and it is worth breaking down as the engineering is quite impressive. The box itself is made of a blend of recycled and virgin kraft paper and when you are finished with it, simply place it in your curbside recycling bin!
The insulation is made from 100% shredded recycled paper filling, squished between two sheets of 100% recyclable kraft paper which means when you are finished just chuck it in the recycling too. Inside further is what they call the high heat zone insulation and this part is made of 100% reclaimed denim and the liner is a #4 store drop-off low-density polyethylene.
Now I won’t pretend to know what most of those parts are, but a quick google shows that they are highly recyclable, I really liked that each of the packaging elements explains what the components are made from too.
Sun Basket Customer Support
When it comes to customer support, the Sun Basket team is a level above the rest. Their user-friendly website has a simple help center as well as a page that is dedicated to providing easily accessible answers to frequently asked questions.
If neither of these two helpful resources can solve your query, customers can get in contact with the Sun Basket customer support team here via their embedded contact form, through the live chat button at the bottom right of their website (always my go-to method for contacting support) or give them a call at (855) 204-7597.

Sun Basket Conclusion
When you join the Sun Basket meal kit delivery service, you are choosing a reliable source of healthy meals that are catered to the masses. The meals that Sun Basket offers are great for singles, couples, or families, and have the added benefit of being organically sourced. While this premium service has a higher price tag – don’t be put off because the costs for the Sun Basket meal kit are not outlandish. It is impressive to see that Sun Basket are in this for the long run and really go the distance with being environmentally friendly and sustainably sourced. Plus, the reusability of the packaging is such a genius lifehack is still stuck in the back of my brain.
