Whataburger Introduces New Grilled Chicken Melt Sandwich

FBR Staff Writer Published 03 March 2010

Whataburger Restaurants, a Texas based burger maker, has launched its new Grilled Chicken Melt sandwich. The limited time menu item is available through April 12.

The sandwich features a grilled chicken breast topped with a savory mix of green and red bell peppers and onions and a slice of Monterrey Jack Cheese served on a whole wheat bun.

In addition to regular-menu chicken items such as the Whatachick'n Sandwich, the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Strips and Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit, other limited-run chicken menu items at Whataburger include the Buffalo Whatachick'n Sandwich, the Peppercorn Ranch Whatachick'n and the Honey BBQ Chicken Strip sandwich.

The restaurant has also added a new side salad to the menu as a substitute option for French fries. The salad is about half the size of the restaurant's current garden salad, and is a mix of romaine and iceberg lettuce, grape tomatoes, carrots, croutons and a salad dressing of choice.

Rich Scheffler, group director of marketing for Whataburger Restaurants, said: The fajita seasoned green and red bell peppers and onions are grilled to perfection and add a zesty flavor that complements the Monterrey Jack cheese and fresh grilled chicken breast for a deliciously balanced sandwich.

Our customers expect bold menu options from Whataburger and the new sandwich is unlike anything we've offered in the past.
