Waitrose launches new ready meals

FBR Staff Writer Published 13 October 2011

UK-based supermarket chain Waitrose has launched ready meals under its 'Essential ' range. The new ready meals include Spaghetti Bolognese, Lasagne, Macaroni and Cheese, Sausage and Mash and Cottage Pie.

The company said it looked at the top dishes for its customers and then worked with suppliers to develop the five most popular ready meals.

Waitrose brand manager Michelle Gibbs said the company wanted to reflect the nation's most popular dishes in its range of new essential ready meals.

"Shoppers know they can trust Waitrose to create their favourites in a ready meal range which is absolutely delicious and does not compromise on quality,"Gibbs added.

The essential Waitrose ready meals will retail for £1.79 each, Kamcity.com reported.

According to the company, the essential Waitrose range is currently seeing an 11% increase in sales year-on-year, and accounts for 18% of the company's total sales. The company plans to highlight the essential Waitrose range to customers with new recipe ideas and promotions.
