VivAgave Launches Inulin At Whole Foods Market Across US
Helps enhance muscle, nerve functions with less impact on blood sugar
VivAgave has unveiled its first-to-market inulin, a soluble dietary fibre made from the organic blue agave plant, which is set to be available at Whole Foods Market to the end of 2009.
VivAgave claims that its inulin offers several dietary advantages. One tablespoon serving of VivAgave accounts for 40% of one’s daily dietary fibre. Agave inulin has less impact on blood sugar. It is not insulemic and will not raise triglycerides, making it a low glycemic product. Inulin also increases calcium and magnesium absorption which aids essential blood, muscle and nerve functions.
The company said that organic VivAgave inulin could be added to yoghurt, cereal or oatmeal, smoothies, juice, coffee, tea, water, and more. VivAgave Inulin is sold in original and vanilla varieties in a soluble powder form. The product offers 40 calories per tablespoon serving.
Prebiotics are non-digestible food ingredients that stimulate the growth beneficial digestive bacteria in the body. Oligofructose and inulin are the two fructooligosaccharides that nutritional scientists quote would completely justify the definition of a prebiotic: oligofructose and inulin, both naturally occurring in plants.
