Sweet Defeat introduces new lozenge to reduce consumption of high sugar foods

Published 09 January 2018

Sweet Defeat has launched a new lozenge, dubbed Sweet Defeat, which has been clinically proven to reduce consumption of and desire for high sugar foods.

Comprised of five high quality, plant-based ingredients, Sweet Defeat has the unique ability to help stop sugar cravings and hinder the ability to taste any sweetener (natural, added, or artificial) within seconds. Anyone can use Sweet Defeat every day to eat less sugar and make better, healthier food choices.

Sweet Defeat was developed by Wellness Entrepreneurs Robert Goldstein and Arianne Perry, to fight back against their own sugar cravings and eliminate their sweet tooth. Realizing that this is a challenge for many, and unable to find a natural and effective solution in the market, they launched Sweet Defeat to help millions of people lead healthier lives by eating less sugar.

Following years of scientific research, they developed Sweet Defeat's unique, patented formula using gymnema, a natural leaf extract from the gymnema sylvestre plant that has been a staple in Eastern medicine throughout history. Sweet Defeat's purified gymnema binds to sweet taste receptors on the tongue, suppresses sweet taste, and is clinically proven to reduce consumption of and desire for high sugar foods.

As an Olympic trials qualifier in track and field, Perry developed a deep-rooted passion for health and wellness.  The desire to share the knowledge she's acquired through personal experience and scientific research inspired Arianne to launch Sweet Defeat.

"The entire journey of creating Sweet Defeat has been fueled by our desire to help millions of people—including ourselves—achieve their nutrition and health goals," said Arianne Perry, Co-Founder & President of Sweet Defeat. "I have always been a go-to health and wellness resource for my friends and family. This is an incredible opportunity to help people adopt a low-sugar lifestyle and achieve their health goals."

Peer-reviewed research by Dr. Eric Stice, Ph.D., demonstrates that the Sweet Defeat lozenge reduces the consumption of and desire for high-sugar foods, despite our evolutionary tendency to be drawn to these products.

"A single bite of sugar can activate your sweet taste receptors for up to 30 minutes, making you crave sugar for that long. Sugar molecules activate sweet taste receptors on the tongue and when the brain recognizes the sweet signals coming from the taste buds, it triggers cravings for more. This universally shared experience, aptly referred to as the sugar-craving cycle, is the catalyst behind the conceptualization of Sweet Defeat," said Dr. Eric Stice, a neuroscientist at the Oregon Research Institute and expert on obesity and eating disorders, who has conducted a number of studies on Sweet Defeat. "The idea that you can reduce the desire for sugar, in seconds, by suppressing sweet taste is groundbreaking."

With the launch of Sweet Defeat, Goldstein and Perry continue to further their mission to empower and enable others to lead healthier lives.
