Smashburger To Enter Northern California

FBR Staff Writer Published 04 March 2010

Smashburger, a fast-casual burger restaurant, will open its first Northern California location in Citrus Heights on March 31, 2010. This is the first of five Sacramento-area Smashburgers scheduled to open over the next two years.

The restaurant will open at 5500 Sunrise Boulevard and bring Certified Angus Beef burgers, an array of sides and shakes to local residents.

The restaurant's Sacramento menu, in addition to its traditional offerings, includes the NorCal Smashburger. This burger features brie cheese, applewood smoked bacon, sliced balsamic-marinated tomatoes, grilled onions, lettuce and mayo on a sourdough bun.

The new Sacramento menu will also launch the Dulce de Leche Shake and the Sunset Smashsalad with grilled chicken, sliced balsamic-marinated tomatoes, raisins, cranberries, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, blue cheese crumbles, romaine, spinach and arugula lettuce with balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

Tom Ryan, founder of Smashburger, said: “Sacramento residents will love our 100-percent Certified Angus Beef, regional menu items and amazing customer service. I know it’s only a matter of time until Smashburger is Northern California’s favorite burger place.”

Smashburgers is a blend of a one-fourth, one-third or half-pound ball of angus beef smashed, seared and seasoned on a flat grill. The burgers are served on a toasted bun and topped with a range of cheeses and condiments.

The restaurant also serves Smashchicken sandwiches, Smashdogs, and Smashsalads, with sides like veggie frites, sweet potato Smashfries and rosemary and garlic–seasoned Smashfries, along with Haagen-Dazs shakes and root-beer floats.
