McDonald's Canada Adds Grilled Chicken Snack Wrap To Happy Meal Menu
McDonald's Canada will expand its Happy Meal menu with new Grilled Chicken Snack Wrap, across all the company's restaurants in the country. Grilled Chicken Snack Wrap is combination of a half-portion of grilled chicken made with seasoned chicken breast, shredded Monterey Jack and light cheddar cheese, and shredded lettuce with ranch sauce in a soft tortilla.
Chicken Snack Wrap has been on the company's menu in Canada since 2007, and its addition to Happy Meal menu is in concurrence with the company's efforts of reducing sodium in all of its menu items featuring grilled chicken.
McDonald's claims that by using a sodium-reduced tortilla, chicken and ranch sauce, 250mg of sodium has been removed, going from 780mg to 530mg, for a total reduction in sodium intake of nearly one-third (32%).
Richard Ellis, senior vice president of communications and public affairs at McDonald's Canada, said: We're confident kids will have fun discovering a new food experience all on their own. But of equal importance is the reinforcement to parents of our commitment to serving quality food while promoting balance and variety.
Part of the enduring appeal of McDonald's is that we have continuously evolved our menu to meet the needs of our customers. We believe that working collaboratively with industry and health experts to make incremental changes in reducing dietary sodium intake is an important part of our ongoing efforts to promote a holistic approach to nutrition.
In addition to the Grilled Chicken Snack Wrap, the changes will impact a wide range of menu items at McDonald's Canada, including the Grilled Chicken Classic Sandwich, the Breakfast Burrito, and also all entree salads featuring grilled chicken, adding to its new line of salad dressings.
McDonald's Restaurants of Canada, along with its Canadian franchisees own and operate nearly 1,400 restaurants. Approximately 75% of McDonald's Canadian restaurants are locally owned and operated by independent entrepreneurs.
