Maple Leaf Farms Launches New Duck Breast Meat Product

FBR Staff Writer Published 25 November 2009

Claims that the boneless and skinless meat is lower in fat and calories

Maple Leaf Farms, a producer and supplier of duck products to retail and foodservice markets throughout the world, has developed a new boneless, skinless duck breast meat product. The company has said that random-sized duck breast pieces are lightly marinated.

The duck breast meat product comes frozen in 1.5 lb vacuum-sealed bags, and is available exclusively online on the Maple Leaf Farms website. The company said that its new duck product is both boneless and skinless and claims that it is lower in fat and calories than comparable chicken breast meat.

Maple Leaf Farms was founded by Donald Wentzel in 1958 near Milford, Indiana. It began as a small duck operation producing 280,000 ducks its first year. Simply Duck, a line of microwavable duck products prepared in their own cooking trays; Roasting Made Easy, a whole body duck roasted in its own oven-proof bag; and Naturally Duck, raised without antibiotics are the brands that the company produces in the category of duck products.

The company also produces chicken products marketed under the Milford Valley Farms and Mighty Bites brand names. Milford Valley Farms line of products include breaded chicken entrees available in a range of flavors and a line of extra patties, strips and nuggets. Mighty Bites brand chicken entrees are offered in flavors like cheeseburger, Mexican, and pepperoni pizza.
