Jamba To Sell Products Through Core-Mark Serviced Stores

FBR Staff Writer Published 17 February 2010

Jamba, a restaurant retailer of food and beverage products, and Core-Mark Holding, a marketer of supply solutions to the convenience retail industry, have signed a memorandum of intent to offer and deliver Jamba branded food and beverage consumer products to Core-Mark serviced convenience retail locations.

Both the companies, through this collaboration, target to bolster Core-Mark’s food and beverage product offering to its convenience store clients and expand Jamba’s product offerings in support of its strategic goal of building a consumer products growth platform.

The duo plan for the Jamba-branded products to be produced by its existing and new licensees, joint venture partners, and co-manufacturers.

The purpose of the memorandum is to bring out a framework for the set up of a three year relationship, which would result in Core-Mark being granted the generally exclusive distribution rights of the Jamba-branded products to the convenience store retail channel. Core-Mark services approximately 24,000 convenience retail locations throughout the US and Canada.

Michael Walsh, CEO of Core-Mark Holding, said: “We believe there is an untapped opportunity to satisfy the convenience store customer looking for fresh and healthy food and beverage products. A Jamba Juice consumer products line will help us capture this opportunity.”

James White, president and chief executive officer, Jamba, said: “We look forward to expanding Jamba’s brand accessibility and product usage occasion by offering unique, great tasting, and health-oriented food and beverage consumer products through this channel.

“Core-Mark, in their position as a major broad-line distributor to the convenience retail channel, offers Jamba the opportunity to reach thousands of new customers.”
