Himalaya Forays Into Nutraceutical Market

Himalaya has entered domestic market of Nutraceuticals and dietary supplements with INR40bn by launching nutritional supplements under brand name 1 Daily in NCR Delhi market in the first phase which will be available in over-the-counter in all retail chains and chemist shops in the capital region.

The company said that it has tied up with US based Global Reliance for technical collaborations and has launched four products under the brand name '1 Daily' in accordance with the international standards.

The company has launched separate supplements for men and women keeping in view their distict anatomy and physiological requirements. It plans to launch its products in other metro cities in a phased manner. The products would be launched in Bangalore and Hyderabad in next week and in Mumbai and Pune by the end of March 2010.

The company claims that these nutritional supplements are rich in calcium, magnesium, iron & Vitamin A,B&E while the nutritional supplements for women are rich in Zinc, Lycopene, Selenium, Vitamin E & C.

Man Mohan Malik, chairman of Himalya International, said: India's nutritional supplement market is expected to cross Rs 25,000 crore by 2020 due to changed lifestyle and growing awareness about nutritional supplements among middle class. We expect sales of around INR100 crore in the segment by 2013-14.
