FrieslandCampina Invests $12m To Expand Vietnam Plant Production Capacity

FBR Staff Writer Published 17 May 2010

FrieslandCampina, a Dutch dairy cooperative, has said that it will invest $12m to expand the production capacity at its plant in Binh Duong, Vietnam. The plant, which is the company's first in the country, is expected to be completely operational at the end of 2012.

The dairy company said that the expansion is required in order to cater to the rising demand for its Dutch Lady, YoMost and Friso brand products. It claims that the plant is being expanded and designed according to the latest techniques and will therefore comply with the highest quality standards.

The production plant in Binh Duong has been operational since 1996. FrieslandCampina manufactures dairy products under the Dutch Lady, YoMost and Friso brands at this factory. Installed capacity at the company's second factory in Ha Nam, Vietnam, which has been operating since 2008, has also reached its full potential. It set up the 'Master Plan Processing' for the production location in Binh Duong in 2009.

Jan Bles, managing director of FrieslandCampina Vietnam, said: “We’ve reached the limit of our production level in the present factory. To meet the rising demand we need to increase capacity. In the past three years sales grew by an average of 10% per year. Sales also showed robust growth in the first few months of this year. We’re therefore delighted that the Executive Board has given the green light for the realization of the expansion.”
