Franchised Food Company Acquires Cold Rock Ice Cream Stores

FBR Staff Writer Published 07 September 2009

FFCo now owns 115 stores

Franchised Food Company (FFCo) has acquired the Cold Rock chain of ice cream stores and appointed former Brumbies Bakery chief Michael Sherlock as executive chairman.

FFCo settled the Cold Rock deal on September 4, with all 87 stores to fall under the new umbrella group, reported qbr.com.

Mr. Sherlock said: We're interested in considering other reasonable fits for the company, although not immediately, as the focus right now will be improving our latest addition. The products will stay the same... the idea is to add to the brand with training and increased consumer awareness.

The main attraction FFCo saw in the Cold Rock brand was its ability to customise ice creams to each customer.

With a focus on food franchising, FFCo would now be able to negotiate on supplier pricing, distribution and marketing, making it easier and lucrative for franchisee operators, the website reported.

FFCo owns 115 stores, including the Mr Whippy and Pretzel World brands.
