Confectionery group Fazer to launch Angry birds branded products
Finnish bakery and confectionery group Fazer and game developer Rovio Entertainment have signed a strategic agreement to develop and sell confectionery related to the popular mobile game - Angry Birds.
Fazer Bakeries & Confectionery managing director Pekka Rantala said that Fazer will be responsible for creating the flavors of the new confectionery, while Rovio will be in charge of the characters.
According to Fazer, the partnership will commercially benefit both the companies, and the popularity of Angry birds will boost the Fazer's growth in international markets.
Initially, the companies will launch two varieties of confectionery products featuring special Angry Birds flavor, following which more varieties will be rolled out. The new products will be available in Finland and other Nordic countries starting June 2012.
The Fazer deal marks another spin-off merchandising that has been generated by Rovio's mobile game. Other products featuring Angry birds include - clothing, soft toys, board games, and playground equipment.
