Cargill Meat recalls ground beef amid E. coli fears

Published:05-November-2007

Cargill Meat Solutions is voluntarily recalling approximately 1,084,384 pounds of ground beef produced at its facility in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, because of the possible presence of E. coli.

The ground beef products subject to recall were produced at the Wyalusing plant and were distributed to retailers in the US.

Cargill learned of the possibility of contamination after the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) returned a confirmed positive on a sample of product.

John Keating, president of Cargill Regional Beef, said: "No illnesses have been associated with this product. We are working closely with the USDA to remove the product from the marketplace."
