Cargill has launched Griddle Bakes cakes, a new breakfast and snack food at the School Nutrition Association 2011 Conference in Nashville. The cakes, which have been made by Cargill Kitchen Solutions, have been launched under the company's Sunny Fresh brand of breakfast products.
Griddle Bakes pre-cooked quick bread breakfast or snack cakes have excellent nutritional value, delivering 6g of protein, a full serving of whole grain and zero trans-fats while using no preservatives.
The frozen Griddle Bakes products, which are flavored with a combination of vanilla, cinnamon and caramel, can be served warm, or at room temperature.
Cargill Kitchen Solutions president Mary Thompson said that Griddle Bakes products not only meet the nutritional standards for the national school menu initiatives, but they also offer a unique and light taste.
According to the company, the cakes have been designed for the unique challenges of today's school nutrition marketplace. They can be a nutritious part of a balanced diet, addressing concerns relating to salt, fat and sugar intake.
