American Licorice to expand manufacturing facility in US
US-based candy manufacturer American Licorice is set to invest $10m to expand its manufacturing facility at La Porte, Indiana.
The company will install a licorice production line and a rail spur to receive ingredients, as part of the expansion. This modernization process is scheduled to be completed by 2015, said the company.
Currently, the company employs 150 workers at its LaPorte facility employs and 500 people across the nation. The company is planning to create additional jobs in the forthcoming year.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has offered about $200,000 to the company as conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. These incentives are dependent upon the hiring of Indiana residents.
American Licorice chief executive officer John Kretchmer said that the Indiana's centralized location and its business friendly climate at the state and local levels have enabled the company to choose the La Porte facility for expansion.
